April was a doozy of a month for me. A jam-packed schedule, some heavy family moments saying goodbye to a childhood home and juggling the girls schedule that felt like an obstacle coarse this month. My nervous system was buzzing and part of me just didn’t want to think about what I was going to wear most days. Aside from squeezing in some essential acupuncture appointments (my favorite kind of inner reset) I relied a lot on denim.
I’ve always felt like denim is the keystone in any wardrobe for those in-between mild season days as it’s easy to dress up or down, layer with knits and functions as a neutral—all valid points. But this month I wore it primarily because I just needed to feel comfortable while also feeling like myself and realized there’s a bit of a formula I follow when reaching for denim.

That Perfect Pair
Knowing how you like/want your jeans to fit and having a pair that you consider perfect is the secret to any denim look. I love my vintage Levi’s 501 jeans. I love the look of a true vintage wash and the cool relaxed fit (also the way the booty fits). I’ve been collecting them for the past few years and bounce between 5 pairs that vary in fit and length.
