Summer Prep
A travel favorite, measuring life in Summers, a new garden, dream dress ordered and my summer lip color.
We’re approaching the finish line for school days and I’ve been in summer prep mode, ordering some last minute things before an upcoming trip and making all the fun plans as we roll right into the new season, which I’m so ready for.
My intention for this summer? To savour it in a slow way. For some reason I’m feeling a pull close to home or rather easy summer days in familiar places. We’re still taking a trip or two but nothing too crazy and it feels oddly good. There’s nothing sweeter than carefree summer days with the girls and I want to enjoy every second. I deeply feel “measuring life in summers” lately and I can’t wait for this one.
We’ve been focusing a lot on our home and various projects, which might have something to do with my homebody mentality…
Over the long weekend we set up our new Helix mattress (currently 27% off, ends this weekend!) in our bedroom and it’s been the best sleep upgrade. We were overdue for a new one and kept tossing and turning more than we’d like to. After doing some research we settled on the Midnight Luxe with the cooling cover (ideal for hot sleepers)…
Also new in the bedroom, some insanely soft bamboo sheets—silky to the touch!
We planted our garden last weekend as well with strawberries, blueberries, lettuce, basil, cucumber and more! I can’t wait to see the girls wander up there to snag a berry from the vine this summer…
Now that we’ve figured out our sleep a bit more, it’s kicked off some other good wellness habits…
I’ve been taking these super mushroom gummies to help with inflammation and focus and loving them so far, they taste amazing!
Avoiding sugar as much as possible but when I have to have something I grab a frozen date, I get the super soft ones from the Farmer’s Market pop them in the freezer and they get a caramel like texture… so good! Also devouring the amazing fruit we’ve been getting from the farmer’s market—so many cherries consumed over here!
How I love shopping for summer, some recent finds I’m excited about…
I’m definitely on a small bag kick but not just any small bag… I’m loving ones with intricate designs, beading, fringe (fringe beading!) and ones that just sort of dangle or hang from a wrist—I think that’s why I fell for this Prada bag so hard. Especially love this for summer when there’s an element of whimsy… a floral detail, a mermaid-vibe, a shiny embellishment or a bold color.
Love the aqua color and hanging tassel on this one… the shiny satin ruched detail of this marigold Merlette bag… and a beaded fringe Reformation find I quickly added to cart. The ideal accessory to make a basic vintage jean and tee more interesting, my current outfit m.o.
Just ordered this green top, such a good color and easy piece to pair with jeans and a great jacket for a casual summer dinner… the lean towards green continues because I can’t stop thinking about these striped shorts as a key summer piece.
I wore these silky butter-colored pants to a lunch this week and realized I don’t wear them enough… everyone asked me who they were by. Also the most comfortable! Planning to pull them out more this summer—use my code Samantha10!
Handbags are haunting me lately! I can’t stop thinking about this new bag by The Row… the color!
Vacation on the horizon means a flurry of packages and a side eye from my husband… look away! I ordered this pareo (love the khaki color, seeing it paired with a colorful mini bag)… this dark chocolate tie dye set… these fun shorts… this sheer dress from Elce Swim… these slightly sheer gauzy black shorts I plan to wear over my black bikini and an Alemais bag that I’m already wearing with a lot of denim—the fringe!
I may have put my name on multiple waitlists for a certain bronzing product…
I’m worried by the time I do get my hands on the Victoria Beckham bronzing drops they might not live up to the hype but until then, I’m waiting with bated breath.
Some other beauty updates worth mentioning…
Discovered a new foundation by Koh Gen Do that is not cheap but I heard so many rave reviews I had to try it and wow it does not disappoint. I’ve never tried anything that makes my skin look more flawless and dewy. Saving this one for special occasions! A close second that might win because it’s a quarter of the price… Milk Makeup Hydrating Gel Skin Tint that wears so well throughout the day and doesn’t cause any breakouts (I’m a sensitive skin gal). It’s moisturizing without feeling too oily.
This milky skin serum from a new to me clean brand from New Zealand called Tronque. The all natural scent smells insanely good and it’s full of amazing ingredients that depuff and reduce cellulite—ideal for summer days!
Can’t get over the new Cadence travel containers in the new jade color… the chicest way to travel! They’re so convenient to have and now I never feel the need to leave a favorite beauty product behind.
Found my ideal lip color… this lip pencil in color Coucou. It’s the perfect nude/pink that isn’t too intense. I’m obsessed!
