What To Wear: From a Birthday Party, a Graduation lunch, Casual BBQs and beach walks.
Currently loading June outfits.
Full disclosure, a character trait of mine is that I’m not your friend that plans every move. In fact, it’s something I’m working on! I’m more your fly by the seat of her pants kind of gal, casual and go with the flow. Sometimes it bodes well for me and other times not so much. Let’s just say I’ve been putting forth an effort to plan ahead in different departments of my life and maybe float somewhere in the middle.

With a calendar that is starting to fill up with everything from a handful of graduation ceremonies to a birthday brunch, a couple of trips and blah blah you get the picture, it’s going to be busy! I was browsing Nordstrom recently to load up on some essentials like these nippies that I use instead of a bra (the best under thin straps, tanks and dresses) and devoured the sale while shopping for the slew of summer events approaching. Some things/ideas I’m planning to wear.
Graduations + Showers
Lila is graduating from pre-school—I’m unwell just thinking about it. It’s going to be adorable and I just can’t wait for her to feel proud up there! I missed the boat on this floral Doen dress last year but lucky for me they brought it back in a new floral and fabrication and I like it even more. I could see it styled with a great suede jacket or cardigan. I love the idea of mixing cooler, edgier pieces with a floral dress like this weather that’s a leather jacket or a Paco Rabanne bag.

Beach picnics + walks
This time of year we love making plans that involve a casual dinner on the beach (usually pizza or takeout) some good wine, beach chairs and let the kids go crazy until the sun goes down. It’s the absolute best. I also love meeting a friend for a beach walk or taking Bear in the mornings and find myself wearing loose easy pieces like linen pants, a cozy sweatshirt or sweater (love this striped one on sale), with a baseball cap or sunhat and some favorite sandals—these leather flip flops I have had for years and they just get better with age.

Vintage-like shawl sweaters are so classic for any summer function. So good with jeans or some cotton shorts. If you’re hunting for a great pair of summer shorts, these eyelet ones fit so well. Also these which have the best bit of volume!
BBQs with Friends
I love this time of year because of the spontaneity it holds—are you surprised now that you know I’m not a planner! The casual gathering of friends, everyone brings a dish and the dress code is easy and relaxed. Denim is a go-to and of course, these Khaite jeans will be in rotation, wide brim hats, layers as the sun goes down—I love throwing a sweater or sweatshirt on top of a denim shirt (my absolute favorite denim shirt is on sale) over my shoulders—and a whatever your poison is for the day on top (maybe a vintage tee or a sweet Doen cotton Eyelet top).

Hope this helps you plan for your summertime happenings! Also I am all ears for any “life planning hacks” you might have, drop me a message below with any that work for you!
xx Samantha
